A multimedia exhibition devoted to the life and work of Vratislav Bělský - a prominent Brno musicologist and leading expert in the interpretation of early music - opens today at the Moravian Library (MZK).
Vratislav Bělský (* 5 May 1924 Česká Třebová - † 26 April 2003 Brno) was a musicologist and university teacher. He was recognized as a leading expert in the interpretation of early music. He prepared compositions by Jiří Antonín Benda, Josef Norbert Seger, Josef Antonín Štěpán, František Václav Tůma, Jan Dismas Zelenka and Adam Michna from Otradovice for publication. He worked at the Folk School of Arts in Kuřim and in Šlapanice, taught organ and harpsichord at the Brno Conservatory and until 2001 taught early music performance at JAMU. Today, the Moravian Library will open an exhibition on Bělský’s work, where it will also christen the exhibition catalogue. The event starts today, Monday, 12 June 2023 at 6 p.m. at the MZK conference hall.
