The folk ensemble Lučina Brno is celebrating its 45th anniversary with a display of singing and dancing groups with musical accompaniment from the ensemble CM Lučina. The festive evening will end with a gathering around the cimbalom.
The civic association Folklorní soubor Lučina Brno builds on the long tradition of two folk ensembles with the name Lučina in Brno, under the Czech Police and the Military Academy in Brno. Lučina works with folklore from Moravian Slovácko. It focuses most on Kyjov’s Dolňácko. Aside from regional dance from Kyjov the repertoire also includes the men’s solo dance verbuňk (Dance of Recruits), which has been included in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage. The ensemble has almost 50 members, out of which there are about 30 active dancers.
The Festive evening will take place 3 November from 7.30 p.m. in the Břetislav Bakala Hall.
