Talented students and experienced jazz musicians will perform at the Jazz Courtyard for the eighth time. Student ensembles and long-running projects of selected students and teachers will perform on behalf of the jazz departments of Prague’s HAMU and Brno’s JAMU in a unique concert program. The Brno part of the event will take place in the courtyard of the Old Town Hall.
The event is supported by the JazzFestBrno festival and admission is free. Bands members include jazz veterans from the ranks of students and teachers alike. Jazz personalities such as Jiří Slavík, David Dorůžka, Jaromír Honzák and many others will perform. “In both cases, the Jazz Courtyard program will culminate in a concert by a large rhythm ensemble whose repertoire offers a strong dose of Afrobeat and traditional African rhythms," adds one of the teachers, multi-instrumentalist Jiří Slavík. The courtyard of Prague’s HAMU on Malostranské náměstí will host the event on 20 June, while Brno will hear the jazz a day later, on 21 June at 3 p.m. in the courtyard of the Old Town Hall.
