The band MYDY is planning a new album launch in Brno

The band MYDY (formerly Mydy Rabycad) is releasing an album called simply “V”. It is available for listening on all streaming platforms. MYDY will release it in the Brno club Fléda.

The album is about the happenings inside the band, which comes back to itself in eleven songs. “V”, or Roman numeral five, emphasizes the importance of the individual members, and it is also the band’s fifth studio album. Although three producers collaborated on it and it was recorded in six different studios, MYDY consider it the most complete. The seven songs were produced by Matěj Belko, who worked on the award-winning albums Řeka by Lenka Dusilová and Jednou tě potkám by Vladimír Mišík, among others. Three songs were produced by the young German producer EMI EMI. The mix was done by Nèro Scartch, the main composer and now drummer of MYDY. The mastering was done by Risto Sokolovski. There are also guests on the album, apart from the already mentioned producers Matěj Belko and EMI EMI, who recorded a number of musical instruments during the creation process, they are Circus Brothers (winds), Roman Vícha (drums), Josef Fečo (double bass) and last but not least Jana Věnečková (violin). The album launch is announced for 23 November 2022 at 20:30 in the Fléda club.

“We wanted this album to have a certain atmosphere. With ‘V’, we agreed that after all the negative events of the last three years, there has been so much that it’s just annoying us, and that we want to bring something that makes people and ourselves laugh and dance. And even though I didn’t feel 100% right at the time, I still tried to find my way and hunted through older lyrics to remind myself of what made me feel good back then. And I found it. As a result, it was an incredibly healing process and it confirmed to me that everything negative has its positive side,” says the singer Žofie. “Compared to previous albums, we talked a lot about the lyrics and thought a lot about how to present them. We didn’t want to underestimate them. We discussed them and some songs had three versions before we found the right one,” adds Nèro.

MYDY have put together a new set, new costumes and a renewed set design is then a commonplace for the band. “The new playlist is incredibly energetic, there’s not a single weak spot in it,” promises the band. Both launches will feature previously unplayed new songs from the current album, as well as proven classics like Just Dance and Rise Up. With the band’s round anniversary this year, audiences can also look forward to long unplayed songs from the early days of the then Mydy Rabycad.

On Saturday, 24 August, the Korean radio orchestra KBS Symphony Orchestra with its musical director - Finnish conductor and violinist Pietari Inkinen - came to Brno's Špilberk Festival with an exclusively romantic repertoire. The invitation was also accepted by South Korean violinist Bomsori Kim, a graduate of the prestigious Julliard School.  more

For a quarter of a century now, the Brno Philharmonic has been organising the Špilberk Festival at the end of August in the courtyard of the castle of the same name. Four open-air musical evenings offer the audience a selection of concerts featuring classical, film and computer music, as well as often jazz and other genres. This makes it a diverse mix of performers and repertoires with an often pleasant, summery, laid-back ambience. This year's big and rapdily sold-out attraction was the Wednesday evening of 21 August, full of melodies from the James Bond films, performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra, headed by world-renowned conductor, composer and arranger Steven Mercurio. During the concert, the audience also got to enjoy singers Sara MilfajtováVendula Příhodová and David Krausmore

As part of its European tour, the Taiwanese Taipei Philharmonic Chamber Choir (TPCC), under the direction of artistic director and choirmaster Dr. YuChung Johnny Ku, took the city up on its invitation and visited Brno. The concert was held on Monday, 13th August in the hall of the newly renovated Passage Hotel.  more

The final concert of this year's season of the Brno Philharmonic was devoted to works by Antonín Dvořák and Jean Sibelius at the Janáček Theatre. On Thursday, 20 June, Danish conductor Michael Schønwandt, who had not appeared before a Brno audience since January last year, took the lead of the Philharmonic. In the first half of the programme, the orchestra was accompanied by violinist Alexander Sitkovetskymore

In the spirit of the idea that Brno and folklore belong together, the Folklore Ensemble Happening of the Year took place on Thursday 6 June. The event was organised by the Brno UNESCO City of Music Office in cooperation with the Brno Dances and Sings association. The event thus became part of a long-term project that set out to map the amateur music scene in Brno, and not only folk music. Last year Brno City of Music reached out to choirs in a similar way, and in the future will host garage bands and more. This just goes to prove the diversity of Brno's music scene, not only as regards professional ensembles, but also enthusiastic amateurs for whom music is an inseparable part of their lives.  more
