The upcoming premiere of ProART Company is a multi-genre stage project based on Seifert’s poem “A Song about Viktorka”. The poem is transcribed into a love letter by Jaroslav Seifert addressed to Božena Němcová. The story of the famous book character from Němcová’s pen is mirrored here against the background of the writer’s letters. The Brno premiere will take place in the former Brno penitentiary Káznice na Cejlu.
With the Song about Viktorka, the ensemble continues its poetic and literary dramaturgical line begun earlier in Blatný, Holan, and Orten. This time, the creators are inspired by the work and life of Božena Němcová and Jaroslav Seifert, reviving the fate of the iconic figure of Viktorka and her author. It is a letter by the poet who, like many before him, was filled with love for Němcová. His feelings for the poet survived, however (unlike his notorious relationships), and Seifert built a monument to his “chosen one” – among other things, in the form of his composition Song about Viktorka. Seifert’s opus and his admiration are thus a kind of satisfaction for the author, whose real love relationships did not come to fruition and whose fate, as far as love is concerned, finds its image rather in the tragic story of Viktorka who is “maddened by love”. Directed and choreographed by Martin Dvořák, it features Kateřina Janečková, Lucie Hrochová, Dušan Sitek, and Martin Dvořák, with musical accompaniment by the Havel couple. The Brno premiere is announced for 2 December in Káznice na Cejlu.
