Two bands from Brno have been holders of the 2015 Genre Anděl Awards since yesterday. Květy won the award for their album Miláček slunce in the Alternative Music category and Ponk for World Music.
The alternative Brno-based band Květy was founded in 2000 by musician and lyricist Martin E. Kyšperský. The current line-up of the band is Martin E. Kyšperský - vocals, guitar, mandolin, contrabass, bass, keyboard; Aleš Pilgr - drums, percussion, objects, accordion, balaphone, xylophone, vibraphone, vocals; Ondřej Čech - bass, contrabass, piano, vocals, and Albert Novák on violin.
The three-member post folklore band Ponk has been playing since 2013. The trio performs in the following line-up: Michal Krystýnek as a singer and violinist, Eduard Tomaštík on dulcimer and vocals, and Jakub Nožička contrabass and vocals.
