Nomination for exceptional stage performances went to Pavla Vykopalová for the role of Káťa in Janáček’s opera Káťa Kabanová, to Ivona Jeličová for the role Ona in the ballet Chvění and to Hana Tomáš Briešťanská for the role of Štěpka in the stage version of Petrolejová Lampa.
Pavla Vykopalová gained her nomination for the Thálie award in the main role in the Brno staging of Káťa Kabanová. “Vykopalová managed with surprising lightness and without simplification of the part to master the treacherous rhythms flowing melodies and thus to demonstrate an exceptional musical and dramatic talent. Her vocal expression is not particularly ‘massive’ and so cannot attract attention with showy displays of strength,” was the verdict after the premiere of Jan Špaček.
Another of the nominations of National Theatre Brno artists went to the ballet dancer Ivona Jeličová. In Petr Zuska’s production Ivona Jeličová created the figure that is the archetype of the woman as mother and partner.
The third nomination was for Hana Tomáš Briešťanská for her stage performance in the production of Petrolejová Lampa.
The ceremonial handing over of the prizes will take place 25 March 2017.
