The group Lady Praga with the singer Veronika Bergmanová, at its head is bringing to Brno’s Music Lab their second album Bez retuší (Without retouching).
The group Lady Praga made their debut in 2016. Since that time they have played in a line-up with the singer Veronika Bergmanová, the pianist Jan Kubín, drummer Karel Kříž and the bass player Martin Knesl. Bez retuší is made up of nine original pieces by Martin Knesl and the pianist Jan Kubín, and the concluding track is the cult song Sunny from the sixties. The group is happy to claim that they play pop for adults, but despite this their jazz and in places even rock roots can clearly be heard. With lightness and humour their lyrics work with the topic or relations between people, love in all its forms, the position of the individual in today’s society and the stereotypical duties of everyday life.
Their first album with the title Sociální experiment (Social Experiment) (2017) was a recording of a live concert from the Brno club Stará pekárna, where Lady Praga celebrated their first birthday, and the group has managed to bring the atmosphere of a live performance also into their second album, which was put together in the recording studio 3bees in Jinočany, but again in the presence of their fans. “The title of the album Bez retuší (Without Retouching) is a reference to how it was recorded. We recorded is all together, but the visitors had the excellent studio sound in their headphones. We are also brought in musical guests – the guitarist Honza Sládek (Pod Černý vrch), the percussionist Adam Rek (Bandaband) and vocalists from the Bubureza Choir, Michaela Palová, Kristýna Farag and Veronika Laznová,” says band-member Martin Knesl about Bez retuší.
Lady Praga made their concert debut in 2016 and since that time has regularly appeared on club and festival stages. They are presenting their new album on 12 January 2019 in Music Lab.
