Peter Berger has been nominated for a Thalia Award for performing the role of Dalibor in the production of Smetana's opera Dalibor, directed by David Pountney and scored by Tomáš Hanus.
"Peter Berger was a great choice for the role of Dalibor. He perfectly embodied all his character's dark emotional currents, as well as the tenderness he showed first to Zdeněk and later to Milada. His work with his tone of voice and overall expression, as well as the strong dynamic changes in the more passionate parts, are well worthy of praise," comments editor Lukáš Pavlica on his performance.
The wider nomination also includes Jana Šejma Kačírková as Jitka in Dalibor, and Aleš Briscein as Jiří in Jakobín. The Thalia Awards ceremony will take place on 5 October at the National Theatre.
