The Brno group Funky Chicken christens its new CD with ostrich egg in the Metro Music Bar.
“We named the CD after the most popular song. In total fans can find 13 original songs here, from dance to funk. Hits like Léto (Summer), Foto (Photo), Hypochondr (Hypochondriac) or the completely new Volám do nebe (Crying out to Heaven), were put together in four recording studios,” says the bands leader Shanny, keyboard player and composer of all the pieces.
On the recording there is the current line-up of Funky Chicken with Martin Vlček (vocals, beat-box), Vašek Martinek (guitar), Marek Fishboun Fischer (trumpet), Miroslav Zachovalý (bass guitar) and Jan Hooxx Sławiński (drums). The latest to join the group is the singer and beatboxer Martin Vlček. “Martin is no novice, performing for example with his project Blues’n’bass at Colours of Ostrava. Rhythm is firmly under the control of the duo of Sławiński – Zachovalý. Hooxx loves drum’n’bass and Miroslav is closer to jazz and folk music – he plays the violin in a cimbalom group. We like mixing the basics of funk, adding the influence of electronic dance music and seasoning it with Moravian folk,” add Shanny. “On the album we started from the concert version of the songs and then tried to add something more to them in the studio to enrich the sound. So for example the song Skákal pes took on a completely new form.”
The ceremonial christening will also include the singer and musician Jaroslav Dolník and the musical actress and singer Veronika Morávková.
The christening will take place on 18 October at 8.30 p.m. in Brno’s Metro Music Bar.
