In mid-February, the Post-Hudba duo released their third long-playing album, My všichni tady a teď (We All Here and Now), on which Dominik Zezula and producer Tomáš Havlen focus on the reality of the lives of today’s thirty-somethings. This can also be heard in the song 90’s kids, for which the band in cooperation with the director Štěpán Svoboda created a new video and invites you to the album launch in Brno’s Kabinet Múz.
“There’s a strong emphasis on dynamics in this song, with quieter verses and a big pop chorus, plus an unexpected breakdown at the end,” both musicians describe. “You could say there’s always something going on. So we tried to find some counterpoint in the video. We didn’t want to play any roles, we just joked with a friend who was filming us.”
The result is a sequence of shots of Havlen taking the kids to daycare, spending time with his wife, and training for a half marathon, while Zezula walks the dog and plays Geoguessr in his office, which looks like a typical 90’s kids room. “We wanted to put together a mosaic of long, slow shots, and then use a large part of the budget for professional post-production,” adds Štěpán Svoboda.
The album launch is announced for 11 and 12 April 2023 at 20:00 in the Brno Cabinet of Muses.
The electronic Post-Hudba duo is a well-established name on the Czech alternative scene today – after timid beginnings between 2011 and 2013, when singer-songwriter Dominik Zezula and producer Tomáš Havlen released their first three EPs, the band followed up after a six-year hiatus with the albums (names translated) Nothing to Look Forward To (2019) and World at the End of Year Zero (2021). The third album, We All Here and Now, was released on 13 February 2023 in a collaboration between Full Moon Forum, a label supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic, and Bad Names.
