The post-rock group Cold Cold Nights with Jakub Jirásek will christen their debut album The (Last) Summer in Brno. As a support act the Czech shoegazing group Manon Meurt will be performing. The concert will be accompanied by the light design of Natálie Rajnišová.
The music of Cold Cold Nights is on the borders of post rock, indie folk and emo. The Debut album The (Last) Summer is made up of six massive compositions showing the influence of the atmospheric Icelandic music of Sigur Rós. The album tells the tale of isolated millennials encountering traditional concepts of gender roles, nationality and long-distance relationships.
Cold Cold Nights plays with a line-up of Štěpán Oves (vocals, bass, keyboards and glockenspiel), Kryštof Knapp (vocals and wind instruments), Daniel Došek (percussion) and Jakub Jirásek (vocals). The latter used to perform as the folk singer “J”, but is now a regular member of the group. “We didn’t want it to look like the guys were just my accompanying group, because it hasn’t been like that for a long time, and in fact never really was,” was Jakub Jirásek’s comment on this fundamental change in March’s Fool Moon.
The Czech shoegazing group Manon Meurt from Rakovník, who introduce the christening, are made up of Kateřina Elznicová (guitar), Vojtěch Pejša (guitar), Simona Kuchárová (bass) and Jiří Bendl (drums).
The concert will take place on 26 April 2017 in Brno’s Fléda club.
