The subtitle of this year's festival is Bach across the Region. Therefore, the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and his contemporaries will wander through eight regions of the Czech Republic. A total of 21 concerts of organ and chamber music in the environment of churches and châteaux will take place during the festival.
Unlike in the previous years, the festival has expanded from Brno and southern Moravia to other regions of the Czech Republic. Leading Czech artists and foreign guests were invited to the festival: the organ parade will open with the Slovenian organist, professor Renata Bauer; the popular organ in the Jesuit Church in Brno will be played by professor Martin Schmeding. The Prague audience will surely appreciate the ambitious Austrian organist Peter Frisée. The dramaturgist and residential artist of the festival is the Czech-German harpsichordist, JAMU professor Barbara Maria Willi, who will join forces with two prominent Czech artists, oboist Vilém Veverka and violinist and chief conductor of the South Bohemian Philharmonic Orchestra Jan Talich. The festival aims to make organ music accessible even for the ear of an inexperienced listener. This year's programme boldly crosses the boundaries of genres: besides the best Baroque music, film music titles for four bassoons will sound, and the violin and harpsichord will enter the adventurous waters of the Jungle Book. The festival will take place on 5-30 October 2016.
