The members of the Brno Philharmonic started to appear among the customers of Vaňkovka (Wannieck shopping gallery) yesterday afternoon. They appeared with their instruments dressed casually, in the uniforms of the gallery personnel or as janitors. The unusual performance of Vltava symphonic poem was led by the chief conductor Aleksandar Marković , while Pavel Šporcl accompanied on violin.
The Philharmonic continues its more and more intensive media campaign and they decided to record their flash mob in Vaňkovka. It is an event in which a large number of people suddenly appear in public - at a busy location - with a surprising joint programme. Goals can be different - from pure entertainment, to artistic or commercial goals. In the case of the Brno Philharmonic it was definitely with the intention of making a video, which would “go around the internet” and which would bring the orchestra into greater public awareness. Especially for the people who do not visit concerts.
Pavel Šporcl and the Brno Philharmonic did not come to Vaňkovka only to record the video, their goal was the concert in Wannieck Gallery. As part of the themed evening Španělská imprese (Spanish Impression) Pavel Šporcl Third Violin Concerto H minor by Camille Saint-Saëns. Furthermore, Spanish Rhapsody and Bolero by Maurice Ravel and Iberia by Claude Debussywere included in the programme.
