The Brno Dances and Sings Association and TIC Brno organised the 49th annual Brno Dances and Sings show on 6 June. The programme, concentrated into a single day, was busier than in previous years. The subtitle Year of Folklore Ensembles was borrowed from the project of the same name organised by the Brno UNESCO City of Music Office.
Showery weather was expected shortly after the start, so the performances of the five children's groups began with a half-hour delay.

The children put on performances entitled Komin Courtship (Komíňáček), To St. John, Strawberries in the Jug (Křenováček), In the Forest (Orlík Pozořice), Grim Reaper - spring customs, songs and dances (Ferdinand Volk Ethnographic Ensemble Tuřany).

The Střeličáci brass band then accompanied a parade of two hundred people in costume, with a stop for some dancing on náměstí Svobody. Representatives of Rosice, Popůvek, Heršpice u Slavkov and Židlochovice came especially to see the show. The adult groups mostly presented new dance and music numbers. These were songs from Líšeň (the Stará Líšeň choir) and about home-brewed liquor (the Moravské Knínice male voice choir). The line-up is usually made up of dance bands: dances from Líšeň in the "Aj ta Líšeň stará hezká" series were performed by residents of Líšeň, dances from the Slavkov region in the numbers Zahréte mně kanafasko, Tanečníci and Přespole by the ensembles Křenovák, Slavkovské króžek and Zbejšovská chasa, dances to songs from the gubernatorial collection event of 1819 by Komín krojovaná skupina, Újezdská Rozmarýna and Začanští mužáci took us to the fair, while mowing and cutting the meadow was performed by Orelská chasa vod Pozořice and Novolískovecká chasa.

The final numbers were marred by another shower, but that was not the end of this folklore-packed day. Many participants attended a gathering with cimbalom music by Pajtáš, and some also watched a concert by Docuku.
