MarZ

Somewhere between folk, pop and jazz lies a place called MarZ - the music universe of a singer,
guitarist and songwriter Markéta Zdeňková. Her songs move in orbit themes from sincere
confessions through humorous puns to shamanic ritual. He writes mainly in Czech and has the ability to create imaginative melodies while maintaining the naturalness of his mother tongue. As a result, it finds an ever-growing audience across genres and generations.
In addition to Markéta, the core of MarZ consists of the band's co-founder, trombonist and singer Štěpán Janoušek, an exceptional instrumentalist of the contemporary young Prague (not only jazz) scene. His handwriting is significantly inscribed in band arrangements. The first album Na rozcestí, recorded in a duo, was a successful introduction to the sound landscape of MarZ. In 2018, a five-member band was formed with the arrival of Dalibor Hrubeš (electric guitars), Miloš Klápště (bass guitar, synth, vocals) and Vítězslav Patočka (drums). This formation strengthened and moved Margaret's songs to a new dimension. In March 2020, they released their eponymous album MarZ on the label Tranzistor.
