The album ON/OFF is Barbora Poláková's third studio recording. It contains thirteen songs and she invited several guests to it. Jan Cina, Marek Adamczyk or Ben Cristovao are among them. Bára Poláková will present the album live as part of a club tour in November and December, in a total of five cities.
The recording ON/OFF comes five years after the last album ZE.ME. It brings with it a strong connection of three producers. One of them was David Hlaváč, who has been an author duo with Bára ever since her first album, another was Jan P. Muchow, who produced both previous records and for the first time Bára met producer Filip Jelínek at work. "Each of the guys is completely different, everyone works differently. Honza controls the magic and magic of electronics, and Filip, on the other hand, the magic of the lightness of the rhythm as such, except that I don't know anyone in our country who can write such brilliant arrangements for brass. All three are extremely empathetic and can work with their egos to make work joyful and creative. And that, I think, is what matters the most," Bára explains about the cooperation with the aforementioned producers.
Bára Poláková will present the songs of the new album live with her band as part of the club tour, which is planned for the end of this year. It has a total of five stops, namely: 3.11. Pardubice (Yellow Dog), 7.11. Prague (Lucerna Music Bar), 10.11. Pilsen (Buena Vista), 14.11. Brno (SONO) and 1.12. Olomouc (S-Club). The guests who are on the album, namely Marek Adamczyk, Jan Cina and Ben Cristovao, will also perform at selected stops of the tour.
The danceable single DESE was created with Jan Cina and Marko Adamczyk. Both also guest on another track from the album, which is called A-E-I-O-U. "Marek and Honzík are my friends. In fact, the closest ones for the last few years. So the fact that they are here on our baby is actually logical," adds Bára about the involvement of both.
Ben Cristovao is again a guest in the song Oplatka. About working with him, Bára says: "I wrote Oplatka about a year ago and I wanted to invite a guy. I spent two months thinking about who I would contact. I wondered if it was really Ben, if the song suited him, if he would enjoy it. I'm so glad he went for it. He wrote an absolutely brilliant text and sang it bombastically. It's the only song on the album that I just play in the car. He has a very special aura.”
The ON/OFF album was released on May 26, 2023 via digital distribution by Championship Music. It will soon be supplemented by physical media, namely vinyls, CDs and audio cassettes.
