bluegrass country Brno
In September 2002, Marek and Lukáš left Podsedník's band Dessert with the idea of founding a new line-up also focused on traditional bluegrass. They started rehearsing a new repertoire and Lukáš took the banjo for the first time - in addition to the mandolin. After Vlado Kosiba (who also left the band Dessert) started working with them, they looked for another musician playing the violin or mandolin. After rehearsals with various players, Láďa Cejnek caught their eye at a CWB concert. The first joint session is followed by a second meeting and the band, named Benefit, is formed.
In the following days, all members start working hard on the repertoire, and at the beginning of 2003, everything is ready for the premiere in Sloupnice. This is followed by concerts at many bluegrass and non-bluegrass festivals, such as the Banjo Jamboree in Čáslav (2003 and 2005) or the Risor Bluegrass Festival in Norway (2003). In the years 2004-2005, mandolinist Michal Silnica also worked in Benefit.
In the autumn of 2005, the violinist Láďa Cejnek left the band. Marek, Lukáš and Vlado start meeting regularly for jam sessions with banjo player Libor Babák. Lukáš returns to the mandolin and Libor becomes a new member of the Benefit. The band continues in the same, traditionally bluegrass spirit.
Another change occurs in 2014, when Vlado Kosiba leaves the band for health reasons and is replaced by the seasoned bard Mirek Svoboda, known from the band Uhlák or Sakrapes. The following year brings enrichment in the person of the young talented violinist Matyáš Černý, whereby Benefit gains not only another instrument, but also vocal enrichment.
