The area in which the biblical story of the birth of Jesus took place is still imbued with the essence of a long time ago. The musical legacy that emanates from this Middle Eastern region then fundamentally influenced European culture during the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and further traveled through Europe to become deeply rooted in the traditions and cultures of a number of Mediterranean countries. The song culture of this area is a direct and still vivid reflection of ancient times and inspires musicians around the world to many unique adaptations. Temperamental songs are full of emotions, the melodies and lyrics reflect not only the desires of individuals, but we also hear painful and hopeful tones referring to the turbulent history of the region.
