Today, the cult musical Spring Awakening premiered off-Broadway in July 2006 in New York, to travel directly to Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theater on December 10 of that year. The work received 11 nominations for the prestigious TONY award, of which it received 8 for the best musical, direction, music, main protagonist, etc.
