"A Fiddler’s Tale" is a composition inspired by Igor Stravinsky's "Story of a Soldier," during World War I, when he was in exile. He composed it for performance, especially in unconventional places, which is also suitable for these uncertain times we are experiencing, given the changing limitations of ensemble and audience size.
With A FIDDLER’S TALE, Wynton responds to Stravinsky’s famous A SOLDIER’S STORY from the perspective of later twentieth century music, including but not limited to jazz.
