Czech music group XIII. century characterizes his music as gothic rock. According to interviews with its frontman Petr Štěpán, XIII. century distances itself from any association with the creation or orientation of groups that describe themselves as metalgothic or doomgothic. The band was formed in 1990 from the punk band HNF (Hrdinové nové fronty) and released their first album Amulet two years later.
