The guitar hopeful from Italy, who was brought to fame by Instagram, but clearly proves that he is not just a social media star, is heading to Brno.
He will play at the Metro Music Bar in Brno on February 15, 2024.
"To say that Giacomo Turra knows what "groove" means would be an understatement. Rather, he embodies this word. Whether it's playing Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Prince, or his own improvised pieces, this Italian guitarist has his own way of playing music," wrote music columnist Sophie McVinnie in Guitar Magazine, essentially summing up what regularly blows the mind of the more than 592 thousand followers on Instagram every time Turra sends a new video to the world.
Giacomo Turra was born in 1997 in Milan. He started playing the guitar at the age of 13 under the influence of his father's record collection. He jammed while listening to names like Stevie Wonder, George Benson and Herbie Hancock. In 2018, he started his music project under the name JMT. Two years later, when the entire world was gripped by the covid-19 pandemic, he started posting videos on Instagram and thus got on the elevator to fame.
In July 2021, Giacomo released "The Groove Sessions", a compilation of funk and R&B covers recorded with renowned musicians and singers from around the world. The second album, which should be released next year, was created in the United States of America and you can taste the first single "Soul Speak". Some time ago, Turra released his signature Supafunk guitar effect and his own guitar pickup model from Mama Pickups.
Giacomo Turra will come to Brno in February with his band The Funky Minutes, consisting of Anna Polinari – vocals, keyboards, Francesco Dallago – bass, vocals, Matteo Dallape – drums and Alessandro Russo – saxophone, percussion.
