The seven-member band Čankiša penetrated the consciousness of listeners at home and abroad thanks to their concerts full of energy and wild rhythms. Led by the voice and figure of the impressive singer Karel Heřman, they turn into a wild dance party after a few minutes. With its rock-based fusion of various ethnic influences and a rich collection of exotic instruments, Chankisha has toured 18 countries, from Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean through Pakistan to Malaysian Borneo. Their Music is based on the legend of the ancient one-legged Čanki people.

Čankiša released several successful records: the debut album Hudba lidu Čanki brimming with energy and enthusiasm from the newly explored waters of world music (2000), the more in-depth Densé ju with the title Mongolian folk song (2004), which the frontman brought with him from a Mongolian festival, and the third CD Gamagaj inspired the eponymous character from the book by Umberto Eco Baudolino. Numerous trips to distant lands and various fusions with local musicians are the main source of inspiration for the fourth album Lé La (2008). Journalist Jiří Moravčík called it the best Czech world music album of 2008, and the band received a nomination for Anděl 2008 in the world music category. The rockier Faÿt (2011) charted at number 10 on the WMCE European World Music Chart in December 2011, at number 12 in January 2012 and at number 17 in November 2011. The band was also nominated for Anděl 2011 in the world music category. The last record, named Supay, was released in the fall of 2015, and for it the band was nominated for the Anděl genre award for the third time.
