The music group Marien from Pardubice belongs to the most prominent faces of the upcoming generation in the genre of folk, country and tramp music. They are dedicated to acoustic guitar music and polyphonic singing, playing melodic songs mainly from Víti Troníček's workshop. Despite the more progressive wind in the sails, the group builds on the more traditional values of FCT music and thus remains attractive to a wide age spectrum of listeners. In addition to powerful vocals and powerful songs, Marien's unique concert energy and literally family humor are also typical.
Marien are three-time winners of Porta and a number of other awards, they were at the birth of the Folk žieve! movement, they perform at leading festivals and their own concerts throughout the country, and for their traditional sound they are also a sought-after backing band. They cooperate, for example, with Pavel Žalman Lohonka and the Spirituál quintet, accompanied Wabi Daňko, Honza Nedvěd, Robert Křestťan, Roman Horký and other legends of the Czech folk scene. The non-professional folk band Marien has an exceptionally large and ever-growing listener community, which is able to follow the band even to the unusual outdoor concerts of the Cestou za Tebou series, held in interesting places in our country as memorial events for the tragically deceased member of brass band Zbyňek Zubířek Rosendorf. Marien also co-organizes the festival Folkové Chvojení and the East Bohemian regional round of Porta.
