Robert Křesťan and Druhá tráva

The Second Grass group was founded in 1991 by Robert Křesťan and Luboš Malina after their departure from the Pilgrims. The second grass is characterized by two distinctive features - the authorial and interpretive uniqueness of the singer, lyricist and translator Robert Christian and the extraordinary instrumental prowess of the other members of the group.
The band Second Grass has been ranked among the top on the folk & country scene not only in the Czech or Slovak Republic since its inception. Although often referred to as bluegrass, it has been mixing multiple styles since its inception. Rather, Bluegrass refers to the previous engagement of several members of the group with the Brno Pilgrims.
The Second Grass has released 18 albums in the Czech Republic and the USA so far and is a multiple holder of the APH Anděl award in the Folk and Country category. In addition, some members of the band are also carrying out their solo recording projects - banjo player Luboš Malina already has four CDs on his account, and two albums have been released to the benefactor Luboš Novotný.
Foreign experience and cooperation
As one of the few Czech bands, they regularly tour the United States every year with a very favorable response. The list of prominent foreign performers with whom Second Grass has collaborated or is collaborating includes such personalities as Peter Rowan, Tony Trischka, Davey Spillane, Andy Owens and Charlie McCoy.

The current Second Grass concert program includes a cross-section of Robert Christian's work from the band's history, with an emphasis on songs from the latest studio albums Let's Drink, Marzipan from Toledo, Shuttle to Bethlehem and 1775 Emily Dickinson poems.
In the fall of 2020, Second Grass is preparing to release a new CD! Given that fans have been waiting for Robert Christian's album for 9 years, this is a long-awaited and exceptional event.
