BATCH: ANNA VAVERKOVÁ + TOMÁŠ PALUCHA + MAELLA

04/10/24, 18:00

As part of the BATCH festival showcase, more than five dozen Czech and foreign artists will perform in thirteen music clubs in Brno on October 4-5, 2024.

Almost all Brno music clubs will participate in the BATCH festival this year – Alterna, ArtBar, Fléda, Kabinet MÚZ, Kafara, Melodka, Metro Music Bar, Music Lab, Ponava, Rusty Nail, Sibiř, Stará Pekárna and Vegalité. Thanks to the program diversity of the individual clubs, visitors will be able to discover unknown club spaces, but also music genres from folk, jazz, post-rock to electronica, punk, pop or metal. All this for a single entrance fee that will apply to all clubs, which will allow visitors to freely move between clubs. It will be possible to choose admission for one day only or discounted two-day admission. The BATCH festival will also include the ReConnect conference for music professionals and the professional public.

The MÚZ Cabinet will feature:

ANNA VAVERKOVÁ

Civil electronic pop about (un)ordinary things in life. At nineteen, Anna Vaverková left Prague to study in Berlin, where she became a member of the indie pop group The Flavians, with whom she also played at the Glastonbury festival. She returned to Czech in her solo project, which is more intimate, but doesn't forget about catchiness either. On the EP Roztomilá holka (2022 Vinyl Discovery nomination), Anna Vaverková sings about stereotypes, anxieties and the search for one's own identity in a world that would prefer us to be as simple as possible. The debut album Pozdravy z polepšovna was released on Kabinet records and won the Alternative and Electronic category of the Anděl Awards, won the Appolo award of the Czech music critics and was nominated for the Vinyla music award.

TOMÁŠ PALUCHA

The atmosphere he pulls from the instruments is like a melancholic delicacy spiced with groping, searching and storms. The palpable sound emanating from hardcore is not bound by any genre cages. The band's music revolves around hints of stoner, reggae and no wave. But Tomáš Palucha could easily serve as the creators of the soundtrack for Jim Jarmusch's films. The motto here is openness to everything and everyone. What next? Guitars, sago, drums and sometimes more. The band released a new album, Raus, this year.

MAELLA

Dark-pop singer and producer from Prague, now living in London. Her music makes you feel like you're part of a Tarantino movie in the middle of a neon-lit dance floor. He completes the unique mood and dark sound with his lyrics about experiences of disappointment, exploration of one's own desire and mental health.
