The lecture points out the connection between the songwriting activity of female artists and their success as active musicians - especially singers. It focuses on the early Baroque period in Italy and maps the environment of nunneries as well as the bourgeois and court environment of specific female composers. Francesca Caccini and Barbara Strozzi are the focus. We will also focus on nuns like Lucrezia Vizzana or Isabella Leonardo. Lecturer Jana Janků is also a performer (singing, baroque triple harp), she recorded and released 2 CDs with the music of Italian baroque female composers. The lecture will therefore also be a small concert of the compositions of the mentioned female composers.
