Sunnbrella
London-based Czech musician David Žbirka will present his project Sunnbrella and his first album Heartworn in Brno. The dreamy dreamy sound mixes shoegaze guitar surfaces with old school breakbeats. Heartworn is a tribute to bands like Slowdive or My Bloody Valentine, while keeping up with current nu gaze performers such as bdrmm and Hatchie. Work on the album stretched over several years, partly because David produced his dad's last record. The album Heartworn was released on February 23, 2023 to positive reviews from critics and enthusiastic music fans.
The project began as a lo-fi pop affair in David's room, but soon gained attention after the release of the single Feelin' Invisible. However, the musician soon steered his artistic vision in a more sonically ambitious direction, effortlessly combining his love of ethereal shoegaze and dream pop with rhythmic vintage sounds inspired by dance music. All combined with a feeling for expressive melodies and great compositions.
