Max Cooper pays for one of the leading artists in the electronic scene. His work combines electronic music and visual art together with a scientific approach through installations, live performances, immersive audiovisual experiences and digital media. The work of Max Cooper was fundamentally influenced by the layered sound of Jon Hopkins, the cold nostalgia of Ólafur Arnalds, the gloomy poetics of Sigur Rós and the endless ambient passages of Aphex Twin. He recently created music for a video narrated by Greta Thunberg and Pope Francis, played at the COP26 meeting where he called on world leaders to focus on climate and the environment in their post-covid recovery plans. Last year he became the first techno artist to play a set at the Acropolis in Athens.
Seme is Cooper's latest audiovisual work. It comes out on February 28th and will be performed live for the first time at London's Barbican on April 4th and 5th. It's the latest project in the acclaimed creator's portfolio of work dating back to 2007, when Cooper combined studying biology with DJing at a local Nottingham techno club.
