After a one-year hiatus, the orchestra of the Ensemble Opera Diversa will perform in an open-air concert. The thematic program looks at the diverse ways in which the theme of water pervades musical compositions of the 20th and 21st centuries. Toru Takemitsu ingeniously uses musical cryptograms, Thomas Adès is inspired by maritime work songs, and Kalevi Aho draws on the maritime themes of Lapland culture. The three Czech premieres will be complemented by a world premiere by the composer and pianist Martin Konvička, who composed the composition TAKES APART at the initiative of the ensemble.
Under the baton of the tribal conductor Gabriela Tardonová, the related harpist Dominika Kvardová will perform in front of a diverse orchestra.
Part of the event is a lecture open to the public in the FF MU reading room (building D, Arne Nováka 1) at 10:00 a.m. with prof. Miloš Štědron and doc. Vladimír Maňas, which approximates the penetration of the water element into art and back. As one of the natural elements, water is a frequent source of inspiration for works of art. Her motifs can be found in painting, sculpture, film, literature, and of course music. Inspiration can be diverse. Naturally, the topic of water is also prescribed in environmental studies and architecture, which thematizes the element in many perspectives. In the case of musical art, it is not only Smetanova's Vltava, which thematizes water as the program theme of the work. A separate chapter is the topic of tears: they can be seen as a symbol of emotions, pain, loss or joy, and water is a natural element that is associated
with the expression of these emotions.
