David Matthews (* 1943) is an important British composer with strong ties to Brno. Ensemble Opera Diversa, therefore, as part of its chamber quartet line on the composer's occasion
life jubilee follows these circumstances and in his personal presence there will be a moderated discussion where not only his relationship with the city of Brno will be discussed, but also how he worked to complete
Gustav Mahler's Symphony No. 10, how his memoir about Benjamin Britten came about, about his paintings and drawings or what he is currently working on. The talk will be conducted in English with interpretation
to Czech.
In addition to the Czech premiere of the jubilant Piano Quintet, the program of the follow-up concert will include the works of composers who are connected with Matthews' life and work: Gustav Mahler, Pavel Zemek
Novák, Peter Graham and Benjamin Britten. Pianist Kristýna Znamenačková, flutist Eva Bergerová and clarinetist Jiří Tolar will perform together with the string quartet Diversa Quartet.
