Johannes Brahms: Die schöne Magelone
The most important elaboration of the late medieval story about the love of beautiful Magelone and the knight Peter was made at the end of the 18th century by Ludwig Tieck. About sixty years later, Johannes Brahms composed fifteen romances from this epic. At the request of Master Richard Novak, this fascinating song cycle will be performed in conjunction with the young piano virtuoso Kostiantyn Tyshko as part of the Ensemble Opera Diversa concert. The excerpts from the epic are given in Czech translation by Vladimír Krátký, a member of the Drama department of the National Theater Brno.
