The new multimedia opera project of the author composition team Sára Medková, Ivo Medek, Vít Zouhar with video by Lukáš Medek and directed by Rocco brings a personal statement with fragments of laughter and forgotten music.
The premiere took place on October 25, 2022 at the Orlí Theater in Brno as part of the New Music Exhibition festival.
We keep expanding reality. We expand it not only virtually, but also in reality: by how we perceive it differently, how we experience it, how we describe it, how we think about it and how we interpret it. We live myths. We live in myths and mythologize experienced reality. Every day we fight fierce battles and every day we heroically win and bravely succumb, every day we overcome ourselves. We do not recognize what is real and what is imaginary, what is apparent, what is banal and what is fatal.
We describe reality as a myth because the real seems less dynamic, less epic and less dramatic. The ordinary appears overwhelming, and the overwhelming, on the other hand, is lost in apparent insignificance. Everything determines the point of view. Everything is an instrument of power. Forces to move the point of view. The power to perceive a different point of view.
Sara'smile is a layering of parallels: destinies, lives, views, stories. They are fragments of peak lines in the mountains of everyday life and mythical stories. Fragments of rituals and hints of recipes. Flashes of reflections of many, many Saras, which dissolve in the reflections of mirrors in an endless loop. A reflection of reflections. We don't know how many there are, how many there were, or how many there will be. All we know is that myth is reality and reality has the power of myth. And so we touch her, we squeeze her, but she escapes like a nymph between passing fingers. – Vit Zouhar
