A great organist, conductor and choirmaster. This is Petr Kolář, choir director and organist at the Cathedral of St. Peter and Paul in Brno. He previously performed the same activity in the Basilica of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on Mendlová náměstí. He studied organ playing at the Brno Conservatory under Vratislav Bělský and Zdeňko Nováček, later at JAMU as a pupil of Alena Veselá. During his studies, he won many awards, participated in many interpretation courses in Germany and Austria. I have also known him since 2001 as the choirmaster of the Brno Philharmonic Choir Beseda Brno or as the conductor of the Cathedral Orchestra of St. Peter and Paul. During the visit of Pope Benedict XVI in 2009, he conducted the music at the solemn papal service at the airport in Brno-Tuřany. He is a member of the board of the association of church musicians Musica sacra. In 2017, he received the Medal of St. Cyril and Methodius and in 2019 he received the Johann-Wenzel-Stamitz Pries prize from the Esslingen art association.
