The Warsaw Village Band was founded in 1997. It plays Polish folk songs, folk texts set to music, and its own folklore-inspired work, with acoustic instruments - frame drum, dulcimer, violin, cello and various Polish folk instruments - and at the same time in a modern spirit. It draws primarily from the folklore of Mazovia, a central Polish region that had autonomy until the 16th century and in which a truly great wealth of folk song creation has been preserved. The band's latest album is called Waterduction/Uwodzenie and contains songs with a water theme. "An important symbol for us is the Vistula River, the only unregulated river in Europe. It is an example of what Europe is returning to today," says group member Maciej Szajkowski. According to the World Music Charts Europe, the album was the second best recording worldwide for the entire year 2021.
