Music Marathon Brno 2022 I Divergent Connections Orchestra

The Divergent Connections Orchestra has been operating since 2014. It was founded by the Brno improviser and experimenter Pavel Zlámal, who is also its artistic director and conductor. The troupe performs in casts of various sizes, from 12 to 30 players. Among them are both experienced jazzmen and orchestral players, experimenters, composers and performers. The musical qualities of the orchestra members enable uncompromising sound experiments, as well as the use of stylistic clichés in surprising contexts. Live productions often have a performative overlap. They have two albums to date. Musical balancing on the edge of uncertainty and fresh surprise brings to mind names such as Frank Zappa, Barry Guy, Walter Thomson, John Zorn, Butch Morris, Evan Parker, Sun Ra Arkestra and others.
