Swing singer Jan Smigmator, accompanied by his own big band, embarks on a tour for the album Murphy's Law / Supraphon 2020.
Thirteen top jazzmen, composed of piano, double bass, guitar, drums, Hammonds, four saxophones, two trumpets and two trombones, play a repertoire based on swing traditions, hits by Frank Sinatra and the legacy of legendary big bands. All this with a very contemporary view of things, youthful energy, predation and a touch of pop music.
The main pillar of the concert show are songs from the album Murphy's Law, which could easily be described as a swing of the 21st century. After all, as TV director Michael Čech says: "Swing performed by Jan Smigmator is definitely not old music".
New Czech lyrics were written for the singer's body by V. Kopt, E. Kočičková or J. Nečas, and Smigmator himself is signed as the author under several songs. With the composer S. F. Smolau, he wrote the songs Piano story, Letters from Heaven and My Wizard, which he used to build on the joint work from previous albums. Top pop-jazz pianist Jan Steinsdörfer (Ewa Farna, Chinaski, etc.) participates in the entire project as a producer, arranger and artistic supervisor.
