TO THE LIGHT / VFDH 2025
Ralph Vaughan Williams The Lark ascending Einojuhani Rautavaara Symphony no. 7 (Angel of Light) Josef Špaček violin Brno Philharmonic conductor Anna-Maria Helsing For the very first time, the final concert of the Easter festival will be without a human voice, and therefore also with lyrics set to music. However, strong emotions are evoked by the very names of the compositions, even more so by themselves and their performance in the temple space. The famous Flight of the Lark by Ralph Vaughan Williams can be understood as the joy of a new spring, a resurrection. The seventh symphony of the Finnish composer Einojuhani Rautavaara belongs to his series of works with an angelic theme and was premiered in 1994.
