Alexandre Tharaud piano
Alexandre Tharaud, one of the most internationally recognized pianists of his generation, is not an unknown name in Brno. In October 2019, he gave a recital in the Besední dům at the Moravian Autumn festival and thrilled the audience with his performance of compositions by famous and lesser-known authors associated with Versailles (Lully, Rameau, Couperin, d'Anglebert, Royer, Duphly and Balbastre). Although he played the music of the old masters of the 17th and 18th centuries on a modern piano, his touch perfectly conveyed the idea of the sound of the period. After less than six years, Alexandre Tharaud returns to Brno and, in addition to performing both Ravel's piano concertos with the Brno Philharmonic (16 and 17 January 2025), he will also offer a solo recital this time, whose extremely attractive program combines the music of Johann Sebastian Bach (mostly in Tharaud's transcription ) with compositions by French authors - the jubilant Maurice Ravel, whose birth will be 150 years old, and Paul Dukas.
