DESCRIPTION
In view of the high concentration of anniversaries of Czech composers, the Year of Czech Music is regularly declared for years ending in a four, starting with 1924, when the 100th anniversary of the birth of Bedřich Smetana was celebrated. The Brno Philharmonic has prepared several projects for the Year of Czech Music 2024. The January program belongs to the traditional ones: it includes works that are a stable part of the orchestral repertoire of (not only) Czech ensembles. Two outstanding representatives of the younger generation of Czech performers will participate in their performance with the Brno Philharmonic: violinist Jan Mráček, concertmaster of the Czech Philharmonic, and our permanent guest conductor Robert Kružík.
