ADVENT CONCERT

15/12/22, 19:00

The interconnectedness of the authors whose music will be played at the Philharmonic Advent Concert is closer than it might seem at first glance. It is not only the style of Viennese classicism that unites them, but also the intertwined life lines, and even a joint meeting confirmed by witnesses. The Irish tenor Michael Kelly, the first representative of Don Basilio in the Viennese performance of The Marriage of Figaro (1786), mentions in his Memoirs (1826) a fascinating experience from 1784: in the house of his friend Stephen Storace, he met prominent personalities of Viennese musical life, making music together in a string quartet: Karl Ditters von Dittersdorf and Joseph Haydn played the violin, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart played the viola and Jan Křtitel Vaňhal played the cello.
