chamber musical

The authors of this chamber musical, Brian Yorkey (libretto and lyrics) and Tom Kitt (music), are known to our audience thanks to the popular comedy Děsnej pátek, which we premiered in Europe and recorded 50 reruns on our stage. As is the case with Terrible Friday, it also tells the NE / NORMAL story of one family. Natalie's daughter experiences her first love and encounters obstacles and problems with her parents Diana and Dan. They are dealing with their own relationship, and they are still dealing with the long-term tragic loss of their young son. So far, it would have been an ordinary story if Diana had not suffered from bipolar disorder, a disease that, of course, affects all family events.

The American rock musical premiered on Broadway on May 15, 2009, won three Tony Awards out of eleven nominations, and was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2010 as one of the few musical titles for addressing themes in the field of musical theater. him are not quite common. A very intimate story depicting only the narrowest family of characters (and a few doctors that Diana is looking for help with) opens up topics such as depression, drug abuse, medical ethics, parental hopelessness, and partner crisis. However, all this takes place at a brisk pace of contemporary rock music, and the authors lighten the story by frequent use of black humor.

Since its premiere on Broadway and the subsequent US tour, the game has been performed around the world. It premiered in the Czech Republic at the Na Prádle Theater, for which it was translated by our permanent collaborator Zuzana Čtveráčková. We will now present the musical on the Drama Stage directed by Petr Gazdík.
