LIA DE ITAMARACÁ

At nearly 80 years old, artist and activist Lia de Itamaracá is one of Brazil’s most vibrant and important voices. Her specialty is Ciranda. This harmonious combination of song, percussion, and specific dance acts as a wave of satisfaction, liberation and power. Being the icon of this liberating music, Lia spreads this unique culture everywhere she goes. Next to ciranda she also plays maracatu, the musical treasures of Pernambocu
