whyohwhy

The minimalist music of the Brno five-piece whyohwhy is based on a novel approach to vocals and collective work for the benefit of the overall sound. The group moves between many genres and inspirations, the most dominant of which are, for example, slowcore or dream-pop. Decadent lyrics alluding to the pitfalls of life in a patriarchal late-capitalist society are underlined by natural and mythological motifs. Two female voices arch in harmonies over an instrumental composed of a captivatingly straightforward rhythm section complemented by a post-rock-influenced arrangement of dreamy electric guitar seconding thoughtful, serious-music-referencing acoustic guitars. In its work, the band confidently moves from austere passages to hypnotic moments defined by neurotic bass and unusual rhythms, creating an engaging musical experience that will not let the listener down until the last note.
