Lazer Viking

Lazer Viking is a Prague-based artist known primarily for his honest storytelling style and signature sound combining synth-pop, deconstructed Italo-disco bass and proto-techno repetitiveness. Lazer Viking is a true genre chameleon who settled on songwriting with an anxious post-punk flavor. Lazer Viking works both as a solo artist and as a full-fledged band.

Jáchym Kovář started making music at the age of thirteen as a dubstep producer, but he really found himself only after moving to Berlin. It was there that his solo indie pop project Yasha 96 was born, which was launched in May 2020 with the single Under Pillow. The first solo album The Boy Who Came Here From The Dust was created over three years in Berlin and Prague, and the pilot single Orange Fish features singer Amelie Siba.

After the release of his debut album The Boy Who Came Here From the Dust, Yasha 96 was labeled a hidden treasure of the Czech alternative music scene, with his album even being considered one of the best indie-pop albums of 2021 by the Reflektor show. "Yasha 96's music is tender and danceable at the same time... his songs lift you up and carry you away," praised Christoph Scharag of RBB Radio Fritz.

Fragile songwriting, delicate melodies, a "daily" approach to music, but also a huge step towards contemporary electronics. That's how you could describe the second album of Jáchym Kovář, who currently lives and creates in Berlin, Germany. The new album Filip is a reflection of Yash's idea of how fluid the current concept of music is. Is it alternative or pop? Yasha 96 does not ask this question through and through. He creates as close to him and as he perceives the current scene in Berlin - in the community closest to him, among fans of dark-pop, post-punk and synth-pop.
