Behind the Door

13/10/24, 20:00

For an unprecedented 20 years, this group has been touring Czech and foreign clubs and festivals, despite the fact that they are only in their thirties. How is that possible? They have been playing together since childhood. And you can really tell from the teamwork of this band. In the meantime, all its members have become "professionals" who can be seen playing with "big" bands such as Vltava, Čechomor, Bandjeez (David Stypka, Kateřina Marie Tichá), Slza and many others. Their concert is a journey around the musical world, with their colorful, instrumental music they tell stories that will blow you away.

Behind the Door is an instrumental sextet, with two wind instruments in the lead, a colorfully interesting combination of flute and saxophone. Their work draws from almost all corners of music - you can most often hear inspirations from fusion, Latin jazz, modern jazz, but also smooth jazz, or even pop, folk, rock, or you may be surprised by melodies very close to serious music. The music of the band Behind the Door is a journey around the musical world and primarily instrumental storytelling. At the same time, their music does not lack an extremely important and rarely heard spice, which is humor.
The band has been performing regularly in clubs in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland for 20 years. She has completed a tour of the Baltics, where she played concerts in all major cities. She also performed at prestigious festivals such as Colors of Ostrava or Prague Proms. She recorded four albums - the last so far "RA!" filmed in collaboration with Filip Jelínek from J.A.R., was released on December 1, 2020 and received enthusiastic reviews. For it, they won the cultural award of the Moravian-Silesian Region Jantar in the Band of the Year 2020 category.

Behind the Door is constantly evolving and shifting, both stylistically and sonically. It is a space for realizing the creative intentions of its members. Add to this the fact that the musicians in the current line-up have been playing together practically since childhood, which has far-reaching consequences for musical communication and cohesion, and the result is music of extraordinary potential, originality and charge.
