Please The Trees
The band was formed in South Bohemian Tábor in 2005 by the combination of post rock, guitar dreamers and healers Some Other Place and singer-songwriter Václav Havelka. The debut album 'Lion Prayer' was released in 2007, the second album 'Inlakesh' in 2011, both on their own label Absent Hour Records. Both albums were recorded in collaboration with studio engineer and producer Michal 'Amák' Šťastný. The band recorded the third full-length album 'A Forest Affair' with producer Jonathan Burnside (he has worked with, among others, Nirvana, Melvins, etc.) in October 2011 during the second American tour in San Francisco, California. The album was released on Starcastic Records in October 2012 and was awarded the annual Anděl Music Award for the best alternative act of the year.
In 2013, the group played around thirty performances abroad (Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Israel, Holland, Belgium). At the very beginning of 2014, a tour took place in England and in March another month-long tour in the USA, which included twenty-three shows, during which the band recorded the fourth album at High Bias Recording in Detroit with Chris Koltay (he works with The War On Drugs, Liars, Deerhunter , Akron/Family) and at Rivington66 in New York with Phil Weinrob. The album was released in September 2015 again on Starcastic Records. In addition to the enthusiastic reception of the fans, it also receives the APOLLO 2015 music critics award for the best album of the year. In July 2015, Please The Trees performed, among other things, as a support band for the legendary Robert Plant And The Sensational Space Shifters and went on a European tour with the American music group Two Gallants. In October 2016, Please The Trees returns to the US for another month-long tour, during which they visit Canada for the first time. This concert tour is the first for the band organized by the renowned booking agency Leafy Green (also representing the stars of the American independent music scene Swans, Mudhoney, The Dodos, King Kongo Powers, Pere Ubu, The Sonics and others). During this tour, the band is recording their fifth full-length album with Brandon Eggleston at Tiny Telephone Studios in San Francisco, titled Infinite Dance, produced by Brandon Eggleston, Martin Tvrdy and Please The Trees, to be released in September 2018. The album is, according to the band's own opinion, acceptance fans and critics' evaluations, the peak of their work so far. The legends of the grunge music genre, the American band Mudhoney, have chosen Please The Trees as the opening act for their European tour, which took place in November 2018.
Currently, the band consists of Václav Havelka (vocals, guitar), Jan Svačina (drums), Ivo Lorenc (bass guitar and guitar) and Lukáš Palán (guitar, electronics).
Please The Trees are one of the few bands that have managed to maintain a high bar from the release of their debut in 2007 until today, touring the alternative scene in the USA four times with their work, tirelessly pampering the audience with powerful concerts and being socially engaged (the campaign Let's talk about old age and cooperation with the Elpida senior women's choir, benefit Concerts for the Šumava Wilderness, cooperation with the dance group 420PEOPLE, planting trees in the places of their performances, the Landscapes of the Future project).
