KALLE

Gradations of layered guitars add post-rock intensity, while slowcore repetitiveness keeps the music grounded and creates plenty of room for vocals. It is he who lets Kalle's songs often even have pop hits.

Veronika Buriánková and David Zeman started in the Tábor band Veena, then moved their musical activities to the post-hardcore band Nod Nod, whose eponymous album was successful even abroad. In the meantime, the creative potential of Veronika and David began to build its own more personal and perhaps even more distinctive path. In 2013, they started to gain awareness of the guitar scene, then still under the name Kall, when they jumped ahead of artists like Scott McCloud, Boduf Songs or Scott Kelly. The breakthrough came with the release of the debut recording Live from the Room (2014). For the duo's album, they won the Anděl 2015 award in the alternative music category, two nominations in the Vinyla awards or a top spot in the Best Czech Vinyl Disk 2015 poll. Two years later, their second, no less successful studio album, Saffron Hills (Day After Records, 2017), which the pair recorded as well as the debut at home on a tape recorder. The end of 2019 brought the EP Songs With The Acoustic Band, which was a departure from their current work. Now Kalle are working on their third album.

NEUE WELT

A wide sound spectrum with elements of post-progressive genres and kraut rock characterizes more extensive, especially wistful, melancholic compositions. Johanna's latest single was released this July.
