The punks among symphonies are returning to Brno, where they will kick off their 15th concert season. A hundred musicians and choir singers will play a well-tuned program from movies to popular music in original symphonic arrangements.

Top Czech jazz band led by Filip Spáleny, son of Jan Spáleny and nephew of Petr Spáleny. Touring for their fifth record! Moravian baptism! Jan Bálek – keyboards, Jakub Doležal – saxophones, Filip Spálený – bass guitar, Petr Mikeš – drums Los Quemados met for the first time in 2008 and since then they have been operating in almost the same line-up, led by bassist Filip Spálený. From the beginning, the band is focused on the fusion of jazz, funk and Latin American music, with a purely original repertoire. Not only Filip Spálený is active as a composer, but also saxophonist Jakub Doležal. Jan Bálek's keyboards and Petr Mikeš's drums from 2023 are essential for the overall sound. Los Quemados regularly perform throughout the Czech Republic. They also have concerts in Germany, France, Slovakia and Bulgaria. They have released four albums on the Hevhetia Records label, last year the group created and recorded the repertoire for the fifth album, which is currently being released…

Jazz Ahmed trumpet, electronics Ralph Wyld vibraphone, marimba, electronics Trumpeter Yazz Ahmed has an interesting background: her mother is British and her father is from Bahrain, the West Asian island where Ahmed spent her childhood until returning to London at the age of nine. She had a musical, jazz and trumpet influence in her family: her maternal grandfather played the same instrument. Talent and diligence led her to study at the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Yazz Ahmed is usually classified as part of the currently very popular, and mainly very progressive scene of young London jazz, made up for the most part of personalities with non-European family and cultural background.

Conversation at the dulcimer - Slovak circle
The Slovakian Circle in Brno cordially invites you all to a meeting at the dulcimer in February. The Slovak Circle in Brno is one of the oldest folklore associations in the Czech Republic. It was founded as early as 1908 as a free association of students from Moravian Slovácko, and even today, its core consists of young people coming to Brno for their studies. The set represents the folk culture of Moravian Slovácko, i.e. south-eastern Moravia, known for its rich and still alive folklore traditions, diversity and colorful folk costumes.
Xiu Xiu (US)
Xiu Xiu are releasing their fourteenth studio album in the fall of 2024, called 13" Frank Beltrame Italian Stiletto with Bison Horn Grips, and they're coming to Brno to present it live on February 19. Nine brand new songs to seal the deal with those who still listen to the album from the beginning to the end, because the album is a message that cannot be read in parts or at a glance. Cult founded by Jamie Stewart in 2002 and currently featuring multi-instrumentalist Angela Seo, the Californian group tackles the innermost human feelings and emotions in their music.Xiu Xiu cover a wide range of genres including experimental rock, art-pop, post- punk, ambient, noise and electronic music. And just like on the previous record Ignore Grief (2023), he is part of the band drummer David Kendrick, originally a member of the bands Devo, Sparks and Gleaming Spire.

The ballet evening presents the works of leading contemporary choreographers Jiří Kylián and Nach Duat. The title Vigil moves Ballet NdB to a higher European level again and promises the audience a breathtaking experience of the movement genius of the creators and the extraordinary interpretation of our dancers.
There is a concert/minifest called MoonFest, which is primarily focused on concerts of symphonic metal genres and its offshoots. For fans of this genre, we have an amazing triumvirate of bands that will get your blood pumping and out of your chair right in front of the stage! The fresh Brno rock-metal band Decameron was founded in 2023 and plays mainly its own work + some covers. The band does not like to be boxed into a specific genre, but the female vocals of the singer Petra gently indicate which direction they are looking and we are very grateful for that. The band released their first EP in 2024 and will present their best in Melodka.

Courtesans from 25th Avenue formed in 1989 and quickly gained attention and status as a cult club band of the 90s with their energetic concerts. They were the first Czech band after the Velvet Revolution to win the Marlboro Rock-In competition, which opened the door to their first album with a major label. Since then, they have five studio albums to their credit, which went down in the history of Czech rock music. The Courtesans are synonymous with the unbridled energy and authentic rock performance that fans loved more than three decades ago.

The most famous is probably the very first volume, the novel in our country known as Ranhojič from 1987 (it was followed by free sequels The Shaman (1992) and The Doctor (1995)). According to Ranhojic, a globally successful German film starring Tom Payne and Ben Kingsley was also shot in 2013.
